中園亜美 Ami Nakazono（Sax）
鹿児島市出身。福岡第一高等学校音楽科を経て、洗足学園音楽大学ジャズ科からバークリー音楽大学へ編入。在学中はWalter Beasleyらに師事し、2009年に同大学を卒業。以降はニューヨークを拠点に、アメリカやヨーロッパ各地で演奏活動を展開。2014年に帰国し、東京を拠点にソロアーティストとしてのキャリアを本格的にスタートさせる。
2015年、サウンドプロデューサーに安部潤を迎え、VEGAミュージックエンターテイメントより1stアルバム『Make It Happen!』をリリース。タイのHitman Jazzからも同時リリースされ、同年バンコクやチェンマイのジャズフェスティバルにも出演。2016年には世界配信シングル「She’s Home」「World Connection」をリリースし、2017年には米・ワシントンD.C.の老舗ジャズクラブ〈Blues Alley〉にて単独公演を成功させた。
2018年には、スペースシャワーミュージックより2ndアルバム『The Real』をリリース。2019年、倉木麻衣20周年記念ホールツアーに参加。2024年にはエレックレコードより3rdアルバム『On and On』を発表し、全国10都市を巡るツアーを成功に収め、ファイナルは東京・コットンクラブで開催された。
竹田麻里絵（Key）とのDuoユニット〈LE GRAND RETOUR〉では、2020年にシングル「GENE」をデジタルリリース。同年には初の配信ライブを開催し、2022年に丸の内コットンクラブでの単独公演を実施。2025年5月にはディスクユニオン傘下のカンナビレコードより1stアルバム『OVER』をリリース。
また、2025年5月より活動休止中の〈THE JAZZ AVENGERS〉ではソプラノサックスを担当。ほかにも、森田真奈美（Pf）とのJ-popジャズアレンジプロジェクト〈The Jazzles〉や、平戸祐介（Pf）によるプロジェクト〈NEW GENESIS〉のメンバーとしても活動し、アルバムリリースやライブを行っている。
クラシックのバックグラウンドと、ニューヨークで磨いたジャズの感性を融合させた、ソプラノサックスを主軸とする次世代サックスプレイヤーとして、国内外を舞台にジャンルを超えた活動を続けている。
Ami Nakazono (Saxophone)
Originally from Kagoshima City, Ami Nakazono began her musical journey at Fukuoka Daiichi High School’s music department, later advancing her studies at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music in the Jazz Department. She subsequently transferred to Berklee College of Music, where she studied under renowned saxophonist Walter Beasley and graduated in 2009. Following her graduation, she based herself in New York, performing extensively across the United States and Europe.
After returning to Japan in 2014, she launched her solo career in Tokyo. In 2015, she released her debut album Make It Happen! from VEGA Music Entertainment, produced by acclaimed sound producer Jun Abe. The album was simultaneously released in Thailand by Hitman Jazz, leading to performances at jazz festivals in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. She followed with globally distributed singles “She’s Home” and “World Connection” in 2016, and in 2017, she held a successful solo concert at the legendary jazz club Blues Alley in Washington D.C.
Her second album, The Real, was released in 2018 through Space Shower Music. In 2019, she joined Mai Kuraki’s 20th Anniversary Hall Tour. In 2024, her third album On and On was released from Elec Records, culminating in a triumphant 10-city national tour with a finale at Tokyo’s prestigious Cotton Club.
As part of her duo project LE GRAND RETOUR with keyboardist Marie Takeda, she digitally released the single “GENE” in 2020, held her first streaming concert the same year, and performed a solo show at Marunouchi Cotton Club in 2022. In May 2025, the duo’s first full album OVER was released under Kamnabi Records, a division of Disk Union.
Nakazono is also known as the soprano saxophonist for THE JAZZ AVENGERS, a band currently on hiatus since May 2025. In addition, she performs in various other projects, including The Jazzles, a J-pop jazz arrangement group with pianist Manami Morita, and NEW GENESIS, a project led by pianist Yusuke Hirado, contributing to both album releases and live performances.
Blending a classical foundation with the refined jazz sensibilities she honed in New York, Ami Nakazono continues to forge a unique path as a next-generation soprano saxophonist, crossing genres and borders with her expressive artistry.
